We had posted previously that we were going to be hosting a Teen Wolf fanworks charity auction to benefit the Wolf Haven International wolf sanctuary, and we are here today to give the full details of the auction!
What is this event?
We will be hosting three 2.5 day fanwork auction events on our Livejournal community to raise money for the Wolf Pack Charity Project. Authors, artists, and crafters from the Teen Wolf fandom have volunteered to offer commission work for the auctions, meaning people will be able to bid to win a commission from them in return for donating the amount of the winning bid toward the Wolf Haven International sanctuary.
Many of the volunteers are willing to work with any pairing or idea, meaning they can be commissioned to work with your favorite couple or character(s) to produce a piece of fiction, art, or craft tailored just for you! We hope that this will get some excellent creativity lighting up everyone’s tags for the next few months!

How will this all work??
This is really the meat of this post, since many have been wondering this!
Overall the basic way the auction will function is that we will post each piece to be commissioned on a livejournal entry of its own in our community. Each post will contain the information for the author/artist/crafter (AAC), including what is being offered, the rate at which it is being offered, and what pairings/characters/genres they will or will not work with (and we’re very excited that many AACs have chosen ‘all’ in those categories). Each community post will contain a single AAC with their commissions listed as threads below the main entry. Bidding will take place in the replies to these initial comment threads.
Once the individual AAC commissions have been listed to the community, we will update and link a master list of available auctions listing all of the AACs with links to their posts. Bidders may also browse freely/randomly through the Livejournal community to search for AACs they would like. The master list will ONLY contain the AAC’s name with a link to the auction piece.
Before the launch of the auctions, comments will be locked on all threads. At 6pm EST we will begin unlocking threads. Auctions will start at their minimum bid (explained below) and remain open until the close of their auction dates. To bid, you would leave a comment on the post (either log in by some means and leave a comment or leave an anonymous comment stating your e-mail address) and state the amount you are offering. Bids must be made in even dollar amounts (so, at least $1). There is no upper limit for how much you can bid on a piece.
At the end of each auction we will close comments again and begin contacting the winners (and we will be counting only comments left on or before 11:59pm EST of the close date, regardless of when we actually close the comments). Winners can expect to be notified within a week of the end of the auction, but you can also check the threads themselves to see. Payment will be due at the end of the first week, so please do not bid if you are not ready to donate. We want to make sure all the AACs have the time needed to complete your commission, as well as get this part of the auction wrapped so we can turn the total donation amount over to WHI as quickly as possible. If we do not receive a donation from a winning bidder by the end of the first week, we will most likely be contacting the runner up for the auction and awarding them the commission instead.
How do the fiction auctions work?
Authors will be offering commissioned fanfiction at a rate of $1 per 100 words of writing up until a maximum number of words they are willing to write (cap). Once an auction surpasses the amount of money needed to reach this cap, the auction will cease to yield more word count and will instead continue on to determine who wins the author’s cap.
Example: Author1 offers a commission for 5k words cap. At the rate of $1 per 100 words, the auction would cap at $50. At that point people may still bid, but anyone bidding more than $50 will still only receive 5k words. Bidder1 can be outbid at this stage by Bidder2, who wants to pay more for that 5k than Bidder1 is willing to pay.
At the close of the fanfiction auction we will contact the winning bidder and the author to give them one another’s e-mails to work out the details of the commission. We will notify authors as we receive the donations from the winners, as a green light to begin their work. If you are an author, please do not begin your commission until we notify you that we have received payment. If you have not received notification from us by the end of December 23, please send us an e-mail at SterekCampaign@gmail.com to let us know.
How do the art auctions work?
Artists will be offering commissioned fanart at rates of their choosing for the ‘stages’ of artwork we provided them. As an auction reaches the predetermined prices, the commission will ‘upgrade’ to a more detailed piece of work. The artists have chosen the highest level of detail they are willing to create (cap). Once an auction surpasses the mount of money needed to reach this cap, the auction will cease to yield an improved drawing and will instead continue on to determine who wins the artist’s cap.
Example: Artist 1 offers the lowest stage of detail (a sketch) for $5 and states that they will be willing to create all of the stages between that and a full color drawing, and they set prices for each stage, ending in $50 for a full color drawing. As the auction bid amount rises, it will hit the prices set for the increases in detail (for instance, a sketch may be awarded for $5 and when the auction hits $10 the winner would be awarded lineart instead of a sketch). When it reaches at least $50, the winning bidder will receive a full color drawing regardless of the end amount of the auction (ie: you can bid $100, but you will still only get 1 full color drawing).
At the close of the fanart auction we will contact the winning bidder and the artist to give them one another’s e-mails to work out the details of the commission. We will notify artists as we receive the donations from the winners, as a green light to begin their work. If you are an artist, please do not begin your commission until we notify you that we have received payment. If you have not received notification from us by the end of December 27, please send us an e-mail at SterekCampaign@gmail.com to let us know.
How do the craft auctions work?
Crafters will be offering finished or commission work (depending on the crafter and the item) at a starting bid of their choosing. The item will not change based on the bid amount unless stated in the item’s description. Some crafters are offering multiples of their items, so be sure to check!
For crafted items that are being shipped, the winning bidder will be responsible for paying shipping unless the crafter states otherwise. The crafter’s general location has been given to estimate shipping, so please check that before bidding.
At the close of the craft auction we will contact the winning bidder and the crafter to give them one another’s e-mails to work out the details of the commission. We will notify crafters as we receive the donations from the winners, as a green light to begin their work. If you are a crafter, please do not send your item or begin your commission until we notify you that we have received payment. If you have not received notification from us by the end of December 30, please send us an e-mail at SterekCampaign@gmail.com to let us know.
Who will be auctioning fanworks?
Fanfiction authors, fanart artists, and people who craft Teen Wolf related items.
As of the moment we have nearly 90 authors, over 30 artists, and nearly 15 crafters signed up to auction off their commissions (or finished pieces, in some of the crafter cases). Together they are offering over 170 works of fanfiction, over 50 works of fanart, and a dozen or so crafts for everyone to try their hand at winning!

PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT have to be a Sterek AAC! We are in fact still searching for people who are willing to do works outside of Sterek. While many of the AACs that have already volunteered are willing to create for pairings outside of Sterek, but it would be great to have more diversity!
Who can bid on the auctions?
Anyone! If you do not have a Livejournal account (or do not log into through another means, or don’t want to use it to leave your comment-bid), you can leave an anonymous comment as long as you leave an e-mail where we can reach you. If you leave an ANONYMOUS comment and we do not have your e-mail your bid WILL NOT COUNT. So please be sure to include it when you bid anonymously!
When will these fanwork auctions be held?
Fanfiction Auction
The fanfiction auction will take place beginning on December 13th at 6pm EST and ending on December 15th at 11:59pm EST. This will be the first of our auction events. Tentative winners will be put into contact with their author by December 22nd.
Fanart Auction
The fanart auction will take place beginning December 17th at 6pm EST and ending on December 19th at 11:59pm EST. This will be the second of our auction events. Tentative winners will be put into contact with their artist by December 26th.
Fancraft Auction
The fancraft auction will take place beginning December 20th at 6pm EST and ending on December 22nd a t11:59pm EST. This will be the third and final of our auction events. Tentative winners will be put into contact with their crafter by December 29th.
Commissioned works will be due to auction winners by February 28th, 2013, one month after the Wolf Pack Charity Project comes to a close.
Why a fanworks auction?
Hosting a fanworks auction is a great way to engage the fandom in both working together to create new media for everyone to enjoy as well as to spur donations forward for Wolf Haven International. It gives fandom a chance to commission things they might otherwise not have access to (most writers do not offer commissions and there are artists participating who do not offer commissions either), and enjoy more fiction/fanart from their favorite authors or artists. More real-world crafted items can help to spread the news about Teen Wolf to people in the outernet, which is only good for our show and in turn, our ships. It also provides people a chance to get something in return for donating to the wolves (aside from just feeling great about giving aid to such wonderful creatures who are in need).
